Gemstone

A gemstone is usually concsidered to be a piece of mineral in a cut and polished form used in the making of fine jewelry.  Sometimes rocks or organic materials used in making jewelry are also considered to be gemstones.  The gemstone is usually a hard material, but some soft minerals or other materials may have a high lustre or some other rare quality which makes it desirable in use for jewelry or adornment.  Please watch for further information on gems and gemstones for use in the making of jewelry and personal adornment.
